Default Is B16 tranny good for 10 sec without throwing 5th gear?

I have a question about the difference in b16 tranny vs the b18 ls tranny (both cable tranny)I know that the ls b18 is way longer than the b16, but I race a honda crx and running high 10 sec. in the quarter mile. My shiftpoint is at 8700 rpm and I pass the finishline around 7800 rpm.I'm using the 13x24.5x8.5 slicks and my engine is b18 ls/vtec.Is it possible to run the b16 tranny and passing the finish line still around +- 8600 / 8700 rpm without throwing the 5th gear. Has anybody had any expereince with that. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Better to post in drag racing and what do you mean by "throwing" fifth gear? You mean shifting into fifth?

Use a gear calculator hommie. M factory has a nice one.

B16 Gearset here, went 137mph at 8800rpm with 24.5's, if you start to run out of gear put an LS Final Drive in the car or get an M Factory 4.05 FD.

Are you using a complete b16 tranny or did you change gears in it?
Also if I change the final drive to a LS, must I change the gear set also or it will work with the b16 gear set?

I am using a B16 1-4th & GSR 5th with the stock 4.40 FD. The LS Ring Gear will bolt directly on to a B16 Diff, they share the same bolt pattern, the ITR and GSR Diff have a different bolt pattern.

My tranny is built from a pile of 3 tranny's I had, I origionaly wanted a GSR 4th but it got mixed up in the pile and the B16 went in

I know that it fits on the b16 diff, but will it match with the b16 gearset (countershaft)? Because I know that the ring gear on the b16 and the ls has difference of two teeth.(64 / 66)
What quartermile e.t do you have when you pass finishline at 8800 rpm?

11.01 was the e.t, it would of been a deep 10sec pass if I cut a better 60', the outside temp was only 33 degrees so the track was not exactly in its ideal condition, spun the slicks in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

I cant help you on the tooth count and compatibility and further, thats a topic for the tranny forum.
