color of choice is the stock color. royal purple I think. color code RP-25P-3. Its a 1997 honda accord special edition 4 door.

sanding took me about 6 hours

















heres when i sparyed down the primer. i only got one side of the car because it was getting dark.












Then the next morning i painted the rest.

my question is. Can I spray over the coat that doesn't have not enough reducer in it with the right mixed ratio? I kinda skipped the mixing ratio instructions. I kick myself for it.

 

interesting. Didn't sand the primer? I don't know about painting over paint that wasn't reduced correctly. I kinda don't think it would mater, as long as all of it is dry all the way through, and all the VOCS are out.

 

actually I did sand. I just forgot to put in that I did. I used 600 grit. I hand sanded the whole car. going to wet sand it now and post some more pics

its a car port. i paid $180 for it. with front, back and side walls

What type of air compressor/spray gun setup are you using? What type/brand of paint are you using (enamel or urethane)(dupont, ppg, tcpglobal, etc.)?

 

What kind of primer did you use? Looks like it could be rattle can....

its a coleman air compressor. i bought a 4 peice HVLP spray gun kit. it consist of a 1.7mm gun, 1.4mm, and a 1.0 for thouch up. i'm using nason I think its a brand of dupont. not sure i'll have to check the can.

 

Primer I bought from Sherwin Williams. I was in need of primer and didn't want to wait a couple of days to have one ordered. since i had all of my paint and stuff like that. If I was to get primer i would have bought the filler primer.

Yes this is my first time actually painting.

I used 600 to sand down the primer. and 1000/1500 for the actual coat of paint.
weather here in St. Louis isn't the best right now. so i can't get the car finished as i would like. its raining and cold.

 

Cool, so it isn't rattle can then. A good primer coat is everything...get the primer on a good clean sanded surface and all you have to do is smooth it out and paint after that. Good luck on the rest of the project

 

Do you mind sharing with us what paint gun kit you purchased? I'm in the market and just curious!

yes it is single stage. next car I paint I will be using base coat/clear coat


the paint gun box says. Vaper 4 piece triple gun set up.

 

how hard was it to lay single stage down, im going to be using some tomorrow, and what pressure did you use at the gone. i got the same paint the nason it is made by dupont. nice work by the way.

 

it wasn't hard for me to do it. I had the regulator set at 30 psi.
