i have a 1994 civic ex sedan.
from what i understand my cars gas tank holds either 10.9 or 11.9 gallons, i cant remember which. well i have been smelling gas in my car for a few weeks now and last week i took a peek under my car and noticed i have a leak. its not dripping, but its seeping out. i was looking online to see how much a new tank will cost me. i saw honda oem tanks for $280 plus shipping and some aftermarket ones from much cheaper. the only problem is that the aftermarkets all say they are for 92-95 civic with d16z6, but they say they hold 13.5 gallons. does this sound right? i figured maybe the company who makes them decided to make them a little bigger so they could hold more, but it doesnt seem like there is room under my car for this. anyone know anything about the aftermarket tanks? also, do you think its dangerous to be driving around like this? seems like my car could start on fire or something.

 

i say stick to OEM if your dealing with your fuel system because you never know what's going to go wrong with some cheap aftermarket part

 

you could pick one up cheap thru a local junkyard probably.

 

after market is fine man. why spend so much more for oem when its basically just a tank it doesnt do much else besides hold gas.I looked and all of the other companies producing them are also 13.5 so i doubt there all wrong.besides there half the price too

 

Because aftermarket tanks tend to rot out in no time unless you happen to live where the car will never see salt.

 

also because aftermarket **** tends to be made of shitty materials and can leak or not seal properly thereby causing a fire or explosion so its your choice but like was said you can prob find one at a junkyard for your car for a lot less neway
