Default What are your guys input on SRP pistons?

Well im rocking the SRP (9:1) piston right now and im wondering what are your guys input are on them? I plan on doing 20psi, will they hold up or is that too much? I've heard bad and goods things about them and just need reassurance that it should be ok. I plan on replacing them with somthing better in the furture but not right money too tight.

20psi means nothing. how much power is a diffrent story.

im sure the srp pistons will hold up fine in the 400-500hp range. lots of guys are pushing 350hp+ on stock cast pistons so the forged srp's should take more than that with the proper tuning.

Yeah, after your previous post, I did the exact same search to see if i get the same 69 results, and only got TWO.

Maybe it still has a few bugs to work out.

SRP pistons are a VERY poorly designed piston. The valve reliefs are extremely close to the outer edge of the piston (sharp point{s}), causing hot spots in the combustion chamber. I've seen it time and time again.

thats not a big deal. some modifications to the valve reliefs will solve that problem. i can recall a couple years ago when the HT bandwagon sack riders were all over CP pistons then months later pictures started floating around of the same "thin" edges around the valve reliefs all melted away and causing engine problems.

the guys who modified them had no issues. i think CP has since re-designed their pistons.

you can go wrong with any of the forged pistons available. its all in the proper installation and proper tuning.

I am totally aware of modifications/prep work on forged piston install, SRP or other. But I am not talking about the entire "bowl" of the relief, rather just the outer most side closest to the cylinder wall. This area on SRP pistons is entirely to thin. Have they changed there design in later years? Honestly I'm not sure because I haven't personally dealt with SRP pistons in over 3 years.

The point is, if someone is going to spend money on forged pistons, these imho are NOT the ones you want.
