your car seems to be very old and that part is called mirror seal.you should not try to remove it by yourself otherwise it will put scratch on your car body.go to workshop of that car they will remove it.

bad idea taking it off.
i accidently tried to take my seal off of my crx and now the maw fukr wont stay down, if someone closes the passenger door it pops up and hangs there till i push it back down, its a nightmare if u break it. and let me tell u its EASY to break.

its very simple to remove. take off the mirror. under the mirror is a screw that holds the seal in place with about 4-6 clips. be careful with these clips as they are a bit old and might break. if they break make a quick trip to the local junkyard and and get some more clips from any other 88-91 civic/crx. reinstalling it is the reverse. just replace any broken clips and thats it your done.

The piece is called an upper door molding.

I broke the majority of my clips the first couple of times getting them off, and what sucks is that the broken bits fall into your door

My dad's friend this toke everything of my car to paint it but. Yeah I think to take it off you have to also take of that other thing to the right of it, and it's really easy to brake so take your time.

Does that make any sense when you read it back to yourself? Is 'toke' even a word? You end your sentence with a conjunction?!? AAAAAHHHHH.

How was the OP supposed to benefit from that!?

The piece is called a upper door molding. When I took mine of my civic I had take the door panel off and bend the metal clips straight and then just pull it off. To put back on i just put the metal clips in the slots and bent them back to where they were, problem solved. Thats how i did hope its the same for you.

why would you have to take a door panel that is on the inside of the car off, whem your removing a trim piece that has its clips on the outside of the glass. at most you would just have to roll down the window.
