idle surge? (searched)
ok i have an idle surge and i figured out that if i plug the lower port just inside the throttle body it fixes my problem, however i have tried taking out the fitv and cleaning it to no avail, also tried to block it off with a piece of plastic acting as a plate between the fitv and the throttle body (didn't work) also tried to take the spring and cap off and switch them around to close the valve permanently but still won't work, the only fix i have is a piece of duct tape over the hole. is there anything else that would cause this other that the fitv, that would go away when plugging the port? please help, i cant stand to drive the car with the suging idle. btw its a b18c1.
when i cover the upper port inside the throttle bocy (iacv) the car dies, when i cover the lower port (fitv) the idle returns to normal however all of my attempts to block the fitv have failed or there is something else causing this.

it could be a vacuum leak.spray brake clean or carburator cleaner around the tb when vehicle is surging.if u spary the cleaner and the idle becomes normal,u have a vacuum leak where ever u sprayed.if that doen't work.remove you iac valve and clean the valve with brake clean.check the gasket if it is damaged in anyway.try that first and let me know how its doing!
unbolt the three bolts that holds on the valve on the underside of the throttle body... unscrew the two phillips that hold on the plate on the left end of thevalve.... inside a white plunger with with a ball in the middle, tighten the plunger by the slots clockwise till tight.... to put back on follow remaval steps reverse... replace lost coolant ....should do it. worked me and many other cars ive owned
