Default Track car interior

I´m looking for pictures of a clean Honda with the carpet removed, I need to see if you can keep it clean and remove the carpet on the floor.

I want to get rid of the weight but I dont want to make the car look "cheap" and "trashy".

Thanks

It will look a little rough unless you take the time to clean the sound deadening off. The process of doing that would probably tear up the paint underneath, so if you really want it to look good, you'll strip it and repaint it.

If this is a street car, don't bother. The carpet weighs no more than 10lbs at the absolute most, and the difference in driving comfort is significant. The car will be MUCH louder inside the cabin. You'll hear the tires, wind, rocks hitting the underbody, etc. a lot more. I kind of wish I still had carpet in my track car...

carpet may weigh 15 lbs max with the padding and whatever else you find down there. i got another 10lbs from the sound dedning itself. why dont you remove the A/c and power steering, that will free up a good bit off of the front wheels. remove the side and rear glass and put in lexan from home depot. get a lightweight flywheel, light wheels,to roll on. you can gut your trunk lid and hood. most of the stuff you cant see so it wont look tacky..

i got my civic EK down to 2000 lbs.

Pulling the carpet out on your street car is a bad idea. It gets super loud inside making any girl instantly complain, makes no noticable difference in performance, and makes the car even harder to clean. Buy a mod or remove something else.

your heel also find its way into the contours of the floor and can make for an uncomfortable long drive.

this whole setup is dangerous.
I would only use fixed back seats, and you definately need to wrap the harnesses AROUND THE HARNESS BAR, not the guides, or whatever they call those things.
EDIT. i see they are actuallt BOLTED into the harness bar. I've never seen this but unless the bolt goes all the way through the harness bar I would imagine it really doesn't have much strength.

Surprisingly, a lot of circle track guys run harnesses mounted that way. You'd THINK it would be horribly unsafe, but I'm not sure that it actually is (assuming your hardware is a high grade).

Removing your carpet also doesn't allow your car to retain heat as well(Insulation). But that also don't matter if this is gonna be a street car.

You could also remove the insulation mat on the firewall. It's heavier than you'd think. That requires that the dashboard and HVAC be removed...

If you have the time, you could spend a weekend removing the dash, firewall mat, carpet, sound deadening and painting the floor.

Rustoleum Hammered is good for stuff like this...

Why is the harness bar bolt in??? Most dangerous setup in this whole thread. Unless those belts pull exactly straight ahead there is no way that will stay put.

Yep, Autopower used to have a "removable harness bar" version. It was a pain in the *** to remove/install anyway, so I think they did away with it.

Here's mine before I fully commited to gutting it. Just pulled the carpet and bought new floor mats.

Here's how it's looking now, still very much a work in progress.
