Default What can I do with this.....

My boss has this welder in the storage room and I was wondering what type of welding I could do with it. I would like to make my own catch can for starts, if possibe, then do a little exhausts work. I have NO welding experience and I'd like to learn on this instead of buying one. What type of metal can I weld on with it? catch can, exhaust, maybe manifold in future. Thanks guys.

Yeah, dont bother touching that if you want to make a catch can, unless you want to make it out of plate steel.

I mean it doesn't have to made out of aluminum, but the way yall are talking it is used for heavy duty steel.

When I asked my boss what it was used for, he pointed up at the metal I-beams in our shop, but I figured it could be used for different stuff.

i dont know if that machine can be converted to tig.its ac only.without high frequency you will not be able to tig aluminum.if it was a dc machine you could hook it up old school with a gas valve on the torch.scratch start.being ac only not sure thats going to work.you could try some small size rod and pratice stick welding some light gage steel.
