Default D16z6 head on D16y8 block, few questions...

I filtered through the search engine but did not find any concrete info.

Car: 99 Civic Ex with d16y8.

The timing belt broke on the vehicle, consequently, a few of the valves are bent on the y8 head. I have a good spare D16z6 head that I would like to use rather then repairing the y8 head.

-I'm aware that I need to run the y8 headbolts, except for one z6 headbolt next to the vtec solenoid.

1) Can I use the original y8 cam and camgear on the z6 head without any cam timing issues? Or do have to purchase an adjustable camgear or use a z6 camgear? I'd like to run the y8 cam because I intend to use the stock y8 ecu.

2) Will the original y8 OBD2 distributor bolt up to the z6 head?

3) Any other issues to be aware of? Btw, I plan on using the y8 intake manifold.

TIA

You have to use a Z6 distributor with Y8 CYP/CKP/TDC sensors, or use an adapter harness. You may have some issues with the '99 - '00 Y8 using air injection/cold start assist.

Yes you can use the Y8 cam gear on the Z6 cam. Set the timing as you would if you was using the Y8 head. Use Z6 dizzy with Y8 guts
