Default car wont go past 2k rpm

well i have a civic si with a b16a2 with i/h/e intake manifold throttle body and what not, i was rolling around with a chipped p28 but then decided to try out my stock p2t ecu and i liked how it had better lower end torque so i kept it on. then randomly when i came to a stop and tried to take off again but it wouldnt go past 2k rpms so i turned it off and turned it back on and it worked fine again. it does it randomly so i dont know what the problem is, the CEL is on but its only for OBDII cuz its not on when i run the p28 so if anyone knows what the problem could be and let me know i would appreciate it.

it could be yur TPS sensor(throttle position sensor) on the back of the throttle body. i unplugged mine before and forgot to connect it up again and revs would not go past 2k so try looking at that

ok i will check out all the things everyone mentioned, i was thinking it might be something with the ecu and the CEL being on since it only happens with the OBDII ecu but thanks for all the input and if anyone has any other suggestions feel free to share them, i want as much input as possible

The answer to your problem will be found by pulling the OBDII CEL code(s).

I had this problem on my teg. It did however go pass 2k but would get stuck at around 4.5-5k. I changed my spark plug wires and the problem went away..

i pulled the codes before i had the p28, one was for catalyst below efficiency threshold or whatever you wanna call it and the other was evap purge system, both of those dealing with the higher standards of obdII emissions, but i never had the rpm problem from before i switched to the p28, only until i switched back to the p2t here this past week.

With the OBDII ECU, any sensor malfunctions may place the engine in limp mode.

hmm, so ron could the temperature sensor cause the car to be doing this? because my car had a problem overheating and i thought it was fixed by swapping the relay but it began to overheat again the other day while sitting in a drive thru so i wonder if the temperature sensor could be messed up and causing the problem. it does only happen when i come to a complete stop then try to take off again so maybe that could be the source of the problem?

Pull the CEL codes from the OBDII ECU. Then go from there.

Is the coolant level low in the radiator? Have you bled the cooling system? Is the thermostat good?

yeah the thermostat is good, changed that and bled the system at the same time and replaced the upper radiator hose not even a year ago. i'll have to pull the codes again i guess and make sure something else didnt come up in the time i've been running the p28.
