why would you need to bang there. i've never heard of crank pulley clearance there being an issue, nor did i have an issue there with my ls swap. my pulley did hit the radius rod though due to how low my car sits, but that was another issue which i solved by getting a ctr pulley. the only thing you need to make clearance for is the alternator.

sorry it was later last night i couldn't see where my cousin banged it at. my cousin did swapped for me he told me he had to do a clearance for the alternator belt so it will be easy to repair later down the line. Checked this morning and the place is by the Alternator. Your right D16Si. Other post will be delete for misinformation.

so the japanese bang on the civic before putting the stock b16 in them? i don't get it. i've seen lots of b series swaps in ef's and never saw a clearance issue either. more info please... i'm getting ready to swap an ls myself, and would like to know before i beat the **** out of my car if its really necessary.

it is really necessary. either the chassis in the ef9 is different, or possibly the mounts change the location of the engine slightly so that its not a problem. either way i can tell you with first hand experience doing an ls swap that you absolutely have to do this for clearance.

Honda originally positioned the b16 in the ef9 farther forward than most aftermarket mount kits do in our chassis.

ah cant wait to take the 5lb sledge to it. im also removing the power steering rib of the crank pulley, i herd using a smaller alt belt helps alot too.

I have no idea if it would fit without banging it. my cousin just did for me and told me it would be for access to the alternator belt. It might fit well but when it comes time for a new alternator belt good luck. start banging, LoL.

By the time I needed to swap in my B16A I was ready to hit the car. Don't forget about the front motor mount bracket.

if your car is lowered like mine... then you will likely run into trouble. it grinded against the radius bar whenever making right turns.

these pics are with the car jacked up in the air btw

what ever you do, do not get 4-1 headers... where it wraps 4 pipes down and around to 1 pipe near your cat................ i had to raise my car up soooo much so i wouldnt scrape and still scraped... but to who ever said,
"""so the japanese bang on the civic before putting the stock b16 in them? i don't get it. i've seen lots of b series swaps in ef's and never saw a clearance issue either"""
what i did when i bashed that inner wall was i took a grinder too it... smoothed it out some then took a sanding grinding wheel, and made it so it took all the rough edges and uneveness of my bash marks... grabbed spray paint and painted it... you cant even tell..
but if you do decide to get the 4-1 headers you have to beat the living **** out of your front cross bar, that held your front tranny mount for your d series... http://www.jhpusa.com/store/pc/catal...b.header_d.jpg
you know what scratch that... dont even think about buying them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
