I had a SAFC on my turbo Talon. "SAFC tuning" is an oxymoron. With your minimal mods I cant see the SAFC doing much good over the stock tune.

If all you did was install it and set settings to 0 then yes, it's just a pretty show. Did you install this yourself? Did you set points thru your RPM and adjust (+ or -) with it?

I will be installing my SAFC2 this weekend along with an Innovate LC-1 wideband w/ gauge setup. No one seems to use these anymore but there is power to be made if done properly. On a setup like yours, gains will be minimal (2-4whp) at most thru the rpm range and a protege? Really?! Is yours a hatch? 5 Speed?

I only speak from research so I may be off a bit

protege's are DOHC. Not saying anything negative, but my D16 with a H/I/E isn't as fast as my friends stock protege I drove. You should come to terms that a non VTEC D16 is slow, stock. With VTEC you'll have more HP numbers but the Honda powerband is mostly topend so keep that in mind too.

Blasphamy! lol You have a point...basic bolt aren't gonna toss you in the seat but with other mods, a NON-V D16 can/will pull a VTEC anyday! I know my A6 rips! lol

OP, what intake style do you have? Header? Exhaust? How about the tranny? The Skunk2 IM is a very nice piece which I run also. It alone should net you 4-5whp at peak. Let's get you beating that protege!!
