Default vibration at 75-85 not tire related

Alright guys, I have been dealing with this damn vibration for too long and I need some help locating it. I'm afraid it might just be a by product of the Hasport mounts and the driveshaft angle but I want to get some opinions and see if any of you have this issue as well.

So it comes on at 75-85 (roughly), I just had the car dynod' and during the session the vibration was still there even though the tires were removed. So this can't be tire related.

The car is running Hasport mounts, Gator axles (did the same thing with my hasport axles as well). Engine is a B Series. The car is also fairly low which points the driveshafts slightly upward. It's really killing me and between the vibration and the cable-hydro conversion crap I'm pretty pissed ....but I just found a killer hydro conversion on this forum so that issue will be solved soon leaving me with just my big red vibrator

Please let me know if any of you guys have this issue?

They're brand new (or they were in 2005 when I did the rebuild). I only have driven the car 5000 miles since and it's been vibrating since day one.

However I will keep your suggestion as plausible because it's possible the machine shop messed up when pushing them in.

Thanks for the suggestion. Does your car vibrate?

Possible, depending on what I hear on this thread I may just take the axles down to a driveshaft shop I know and have them checked for balance.

I've been told by a reputable builder near Tampa that the Hasport mount kits put the engine in a very bad spot which lends itself to axle vibration. I trust this guy a lot but of course his answer to my problem is to have him make me mounts (but the car needs to be at his shop in FL)....... not gonna happen.

Yeah I could try. However I know where you're going with this and running the car 75-85mph while raised in the air is not a great idea. Especially since a vibration as I'm describing could shake it off the jack stands and cause .....well....let's not even go there

I think a better idea would be for me to adjust my coilovers up and test it on the road.

Do you have an aftermarket traction bar? I have the exact issue you are running into also. Car vibrates at around 75-85 and goes away after that. I still have not cured my problem yet. It still vibrates a bit. My traction bar end links where a bit loose. So, I tighten them and it got some of the vibration but not all. If you ever figure out what you did let me know.

my brother ran into the same issue. A vibration only at a certain speed/rpm. it ended up getting worse and only being under hard acceleration.

he changed axle and it was gone. If it started from day one, I'd say it def possible one of the axles is the issue.

"I think a better idea would be for me to adjust my coilovers up and test it on the road. "

That was my original suggestion. Also, if you took off the front wheels, and put it on Jack Stands (not my original idea), well, I would put it on Jacks, with Jack Stand backups... You would be able to back off before it got so bad it would actually fall off jacks/jackstands.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys, here's the plan....

- Raise the car up maybe 1 inch and see if it makes a difference.
- Adjust my Full Race traction bars slightly, trying not to throw off my caster.
- Replace upper ball joints, they are old anyway.
- Take my driveshaft to a local shop to check for balance
- Inspect my steering rack (it's fairly new though)

Here's one..... what about the bearing in my intermediate shaft holder? you know the thingy that bolts to the block on the drivers side.

yeah that bearing could be worn too man and when i checked on it a local part store, they could have it over night for pretty cheap. i would probably get it from a napa store because they sell precision brand bearings and last forever.

No but to be quite honest I have stopped looking. I have some other things going on right now and the main thing I want to concentrate on is getting rid of this damn heavy *** cable clutch!!

How old are the Hasport mounts your using? What axles and intermediate shaft?

I always had a similar vibration with my first gen hasport mounts. With the new style mounts the its gone. I dont know if its because of the different engine placement or softer poly in the mounts but it definitely made a difference for me.

You never stated if the vibration was coming from just one side of the car? Figure that out and then check all your bushings/ball joints on that side. Usually the wheel bearings go within 3 months or less of the first noises so I would rule those out of the picture. You said it's happened with two different sets of axels so that pretty much rules those out. Intermediate shaft sounds like a possibility too though.

I know we all spoke about upper ball joints and that is a possibility. That's basically the only thing that was not replaced on my car. As for what side it's vibrating on, I have no clue, it's too difficult to pinpoint. If I had to guess I would say both sides or dead center. It also doesn't change when I corner, coast, or accelerate. I really think it's either the intermediate shaft or the upper ball joints.

I did my swap back in 2005 so I'm not sure if these are the old or new style HASPORT mounts. I only have 6K miles on the car since the swap.
