Default ZC Q's

I have some Q's about my ZC motor..

1) Idk if im reading it wrong or not but its sounding like my "swapped" ZC is in fact the motor that came in my 91 Civic Si when it was stock? I was told by the guy whom i bought it from (who doesnt know much about imports btw) that it was a new "swapped" motor. But the thing is, he bought it from a guy who supposedly swapped it from the stock motor before he bought it. Changed the engine mounts and everything. From what im reading it sounds kinda shady. Like someones lieing. Its saying theres no need to change the mounts.. If in fact that is true then the guy was obviously bullshitting.. Am i right or wrong here? If so can anyone tell me what the stock 91 Civic Si motor is?

2) Also, Im reading that ZC motors are pretty bullet proof. If thats true, how hard whould one have to run a ZC to make it burn oil as bad as mine does? And what kinda shape am i expecting it to be in when its rebuilt? I have not drivin it yet. Only heard it run and backed down the driveway. It only has 55K miles on it. Its a JDM (so im told). It was put in at about 40k (again, so im told).

All Japanese EF Si's had DOHC ZC's standard. The USDM model Si's had SOHC D16's.

If yours is actually an imported Si then the DOHC ZC would have been the original type of engine.

Do you have any pictures of your car?

Ok, your first thing to look at, if it is in fact a ZC it will be a dohc (duel over head cam). If it is not a dohc you don't have a ZC, if your car is a single over head cam, you probably still have the stock motor. For your civic Si it would have come with the D16A6, which is a sohc 1.6 liter. If they swapped mounts for a ZC swap they just did it to replace the old ones if they did in fact put a ZC in there.Which I did. Fortunatly I'm having a ZC swapped into my EF right now. I don't know why your car is burning oil, I would have it looked at, but if look at your engine and you see 1 camshaft, you have been lied to. I hope this info helps.

The car itself is not imported. The engine suposedly is.

It is a DOHC. Not a single. Now, if the single is a d16a6 then what is the double? I think if i know it will help me find parts better. Im seeing everything as d16a6 or d16a1, ect, ect.

Im new to the import thing and im trying to know as much about my car and all its counter-parts as possible. I appologize for all the noob Q's. lol.

Either a D16a8, a D16a9 or a ZC more then likely.

Just check the engine code on the block? And zc' s did come in sohc as well as dohc. Here is a pic of a dohc zc. I circled in red where the engine code is stamped.
