Default Is theft really an issue on these cars?

Currently my CRX is in the garage getting the finishing touches but as soon as it is done it is back on the curb and my Ford Lightning will reclaim the garage.

I have a very nice 5.0 mustang and my Lightning is super clean and nobody has ever messed with them.

Everyone keeps telling me to get a removable steering wheel or something or the CRX will be stolen for sure.

Black 1988 CRX Si with JDM B18CR swap, GSR YS1 tranny w/quaiffe LSD, CC 8 lb flywheel, exedy stage 1 racing clutch, AEM hybrid intake, JDM 4 to 1 header, Skunk2 N1 Megapower exhaust, 08' Honda Fit wheels, Skunk2 Pro-S coilover kit etc....

The car looks like *** as of now cause I wanted to get all of the mechanical things out of the way before paint etc...

The car is either going to ride the curb or go in a storage unit. I would hate to spend the money on a storage unit becuse of mis-information.

I know Type R Integras are targets but swapped CRX's?????????????????"Doubtful"

well your CRX is a target for honda heads cuz they can pretty much take everything and put it into their cars. honda has the most compatible components that will fit pretty much any other civic or integra. the integra type r is mostly stolen cuz the engine is so ****in bad *** lol. thats just what ive come across.

Look at all of the threads about stolen cars... also, ask your insurance company. The problem is, they are easy to steal.

So even if it's 1 in 1000... It makes all the difference to the world to that 1...

if you feel you need to ask, then yes, you should be worried about theft. any one gets on these forums, and you just told us you have a SICK motor combo, and the general area that you live, yeah i'd say that it's a hot car to chose from. I get my shiznit the honest way (sweat blood and tears) but not everyone is the same. besides, why scrimp on that one thing? it's worth it imo to have those objects, even if your car is bone stock, to avoid the hassle of calling the police and your insurance and what not.

The ranking of most stolen cars for 2007 is as follows.

1. 1995 Honda Civic

Hondas have topped the ranks for stolen cars because of the interchangeability as previously stated and everyone is in the market for Civic parts, especially older ones as they are getting harder and harder to find parts for. Anything that says Civic or indicates that it's a honda, people try and steal it because they know they are a pretty hot commodity and again as stated before, they are relitively easy to steal.

You can take precautions yourself by getting a quick release hub steering wheel, a hidden kill switch for the fuel pump etc. Obviously this will not stop them from taking exterior parts, but atleast they cant get the whole car.

Thanks for the replies guys. After my ZC hood comes in its off to the storage unit she goes. Me and my wife both work so nobody is home all day. I am not going to take the chance. I am looking for something big enough for the CRX and my Mustang.

Thanks,

i hear Lightnings theft is pretty high in the midwest states. I would do a removable steering wheel on the crx and the mustang, hehe.

I parked in front of a police station on the street in brooklyn ny. they tried to steal my "stock" crx. they would have gotten away with it too if they knew how to start it.

Your CRX is too nice to be on the curb. No matter the exterior, any fan can spot the goodies you got. Even if they don't take the car, some punk could do a lot of damage trying to find how he can't take the car - for any reason. At this point of the game, any old Honda is a target. Type R, Si, LX or CX.

My best suggestion would be a self storage now.

Give up something monthly to help offset the cost - downgrade your cell phone or cable TV.

Why would you list all those goodies you have on your car and not leave us an address?

...store it. Sooner or later if you leave it on the curb, someone WILL attempt to steal that sh*t.

Yes that theif got what he needed. They are all scum and should be put to death if they steal from people. Well maybe not death I stole a candy bar when I was 4 that should not be death but cars, car parts, rims, ect... should be. But back to topic if a theif wants your car or parts bad enough they will steal it or try to. Just like dude said he parked in front of a poliece station and they still tryed to jack his rex. I've had many stereo's and a set of rims jacked from me. If they want it, they will get it no matter what. In eugene honda's get stolen everyday my buddy got his camoflaged eg hatch stolen but got it back the same day tweakers did'nt know how to hide a car. So I'd keep my car locked up in my garage or your back yard.

Remeber if it's out of sight, it's out of mind for most.

Negative, it's all state of mind. People all over the country get things stolen from them, it doesn't matter what exactly it is; if someone wants it they will take it. I've owned and parked outdoors my car for the last 7 years in both CFL and in Miami and nay a problem except some random nails in my tire I attributed to constant home constructions in my area.

No it was a ls/vtec supercharged. Built and tuned by garage 808 it was stolen maybe 2 or 3 years ago now. It was Brandon's hatch. Just kinda sucks I'm scared to leave any of my cars/trucks anywhere in eugene/medford/portland for more then a hour. I used to live in medford and thats where my stuff got jacked. It all depends on your neighbor hood to. So to the OP what kinda hood you live in?
