Icon3 91 crx d16y8 IAC sensor question?!!!! help!!

hey so i just bought a 91 crx dx with a d16y7 and a d16y8 head+manifold running a chipped p28 with a obd1 jumper harness. so ive been having problems with it bogging/sputter after it reaches normal temp. it doesnt always bog only like 70% of the time. it only sputters at lower rpms after it hits around 2500 rpms it starts to pick back up fine. i noticed it happens more often when i turn on my heater. majority of the time it doesnt throw any CEL codes. but every once in awhile it will throw a code and it will start to bog pretty bad, but whenever it does throw the code i dont have the chance to check it bcuz im in a bad postion " ex: in traffic and have to shut the car off and turn it back on real quick" so i havent been able to check the CEL. i noticed the IAC sensor is just hanging in the engine bay near the alternator. i know when swapping to the y8 you need to extend the IAC to the cold air intake pipe. okay to get to the question!

WOULD THE IAC SENSOR NOT BEING REROUTED AND PLACED INTO THE INTAKE SYSTEM CAUSE THESE SYMPTOMS THAT I AM HAVING? OR DOES IT SOUND LIKE SOMETHING MORE?

extra info: when i got the car the distributer was unaligned pretty bad. so i retarded it to the center also went through the distributer and everything was good. checked all spark plug wires and they seem to be good. all wiring seems to be fine and correct. i just changed spark plugs. its getting fuel to all injectors. i will try and take pics asap but if anyone knows if these are symptoms cause by not having a IAC sensor could you please let me know thanks

P.S. sorry bout the long a** post just trying to get more info now so there will be less questions later. thanks

I believe you mean the IAT and not the IAC.
Yes, not having the sensor hooked up correctly will give you problems.
Not setting your timing correctly also gives problems - you need to disable the electronic timing and then use a timing light to set the distributor correctly.

yeah my bad i didnt mean to put IAC i meant to put IAT. haha well anyways. i did retard the distributer properly by checking it with a timing light. ok so if these problems could be caused by the IAT sensor then im going to machine a hole in my intake pipe and silicone the IAT sensor in and i will repost how it goes. "thanks tho 4drEF"
