vtec is w.e to me. its fun when your a noob to it but honestly id get the b18c1 over the b20 just because itll be a direct swap no w.e. if i DID go with the b20 then id sleeve it and balance it just to make it less of a worry on me. dont want that badboy cracking.

but thats me.

I was thinkin the same plus the motor is cheaper and fuel economy is expensive for the
b18c1 but I heard alot of people say that the b20 wont make a difference from the b18a-b

Were you planning on going forced induction? B20/vtec or are you planning on going a non-vtec route with the b20?

b18c1 all the way. b20 is weak in stock form and doesnt differ much from the b18b/a. Both the motors work well with turbo, but honestly the gsr motor will generally yield better results. As for them both in stock form...im sorry but thats not even a question...b18c1 is a wayyy better motor.

B18C1 is far superior, as you can tell from the response.
Oil squirters, stronger crank, stronger block, higher compression, higher rev limit, better powerband, & a much better cam profile.
If you really want that extra 0.2L of displacement, just get a stroker kit.

I'm in your place right now too. Its pretty much gonna come down to cash honestly. stock for stock the b18c1 is of course a lot better and with enough money its all gonna be the same.

B20vtec is the way to go my friend. That's what I have in my teg right now and its still running strong since I put it together 3 years ago. My stock B20b block with a stock gsr head and the basic bolt ons (I/H/E) put down 172 whp and 135tq. The torque makes the car hella fun to drive.

Oh and don't listen to anybody who says B20s are weak and this and that. Here is a thread with 20 some pages of B20s putting down crazy power on stock sleeves... https://honda-tech.com/forums/all-motor-naturally-aspirated-44/%2A%2A%2Aofficial-all-motor-stock-sleeve-b20vtec-thread%2A%2A%2A-1555476/

The OP asked b20 or b18c1 originally...NOT b20vtec. If were going stock b20(with no vtec head) and a b18c1, there is absolutely no comparison. If were talking b20vtec or b18c1, then i would still stick with the b18c1, strictly because I love the OEM reliability, even if you build it slightly. With the b20vtec or LSVs you are risking a lot more problems, and its more of a process to do the conversion, than already having a motor that comes with vtec already.

Yes b20vtecs and LSvs do put down a little more power, but you can also make great power out of gsr motor.

Once again, the OP asked for a stock b20, and you link him a thread related to b20vtec builds. You say in your post "dont listen to anyone who says b20s are weak", and in fact a STOCK b20, which is what we are referring to, IS weak compared to a vtec motor. Now, a b20vtec, which is not what you said, is comparable and sometimes surpasses your conventional stock vtec motor.

If the OP was to go NA, with either a stock b20 NON VTEC motor, or a b18c1, the gsr motor will outperform it almost 99.9% of the time.

Figure out your goals and search...threads like this are pointless and get you no further towards an answer. All you're going to get is someone else's unfounded opinion.
