Default H3 bulb in H1 housing

Quick questions guys I want to put some H3 bulbs in my headlight instead of the normal H1 bulbs and was wondering if they will fit properly. Wiring them up shouldnt be a problem. The reason Im converting to H3 is because Im ordering yellow capsules and they only make them to fit on H3 bulbs. These are for a PnP HID kit. Thanks.

The optics will be all wrong since the H3 is a shorter bulb as well as it's filament is turned the wrong way (H1's filament runs tip to tail, H3 runs side to side paralell to the base). I doubt you'll be able to get decent results with out destroying the housing or the bulb.

Definitely a bad idea. If you want yellow H1 bulbs, order the correct ones. As CarbonizedDX stated, the optics will be completely wrong between the two bulbs, and your beam pattern will be poor.

thanks guys, im not too "lighting-smart" hense why I asked...I completely understand the think about the filament running tip-to-tail as opposed to side-to-side, but if you examine the bulbs given to you if you purchased a HID PnP kit, the design of both the H3 and H1 bulbs given are very similar.

The capsules that Im ordering are made to fit the HID H3 bulb, that why I want to use it instead of the H1 bulb.

Yes you're right with HID pnp having tip to tail in both applications BUT the spacing of where the arc is comes short for H1 with an H3 bulb. Can you explain more on the capsules you're using? Are they the amber/yellow dome test tube looking units or are they colored tubes?

Here's a link to the capsule...http://www.automotivelightingusa.com...30737b4b98b6fd

I was originally going to try to put them on an H1 3000k kit (since the stock bulb is an H1) but then I came up with idea of getting a H3 3000k kit (since the capsules fit perfect on those bulbs) and somehow put them in my stock housing.

They'll fit an H1 just as easily as they fit that H3, the only difference maybe the spacing of the spring since the H1 is a longer bulb, I'm willing to be they'd fit h1's just fine. If anything I'd worry about the capsule fitting into the opening for the H1 atall, probably why they list these for H3's...
