please help with push button/toggle start install
hey guys ive searched and searched and everything ive come up with is people modding or upgrading with the s2k button and the legit wiring diagram etc.. i have a beater, and when i say beater i mean BEATER that has a ****ed up igniton or something (i have to push start it every time) im trying to install a push button start. the cheapest most hack way possible the only thing i care about is that it dosent blow my **** up, because i wouldnt do it if i didnt want it to work! id prefer not having to use the key but whatever is the easiest and cheapest way
i was thining a switch/push button, some wire, some wire crimps and possibly a relay, but i wouldnt know the first thing to wiring it. i was guessing one pole of the switch goes to the starter wire? or solenoid and one to a ground, with the possibilty of a relay inbetween? im sure thats no where close so ill wait for some help, but thats how clueless i am on the situation.
any links would help. diy's or how to's would be greatly appreciated.

ok so if you go to autozone (this is what i did) they sell a push button starter switch. It has two prongs, one goes to battery source and the other goes to ignition wire on starter. find where you want to mount switch, I would tell you where i put mine but then it would be pointless. Here are some stteps:
1.) Disconnect ingnition wire (small one) off the starter and crim a terminal butt on it ( point is to cover metal part)
2.) run wire from one prong to the starter prong and connect with female connector
3.) run wire from other prong to battery source: can be battery or fuse box under hood or under dash.
4.) mount switch in desired location
5.) turn key to on position (not start)
6.) push button and it will start

ok so basically my toggle/button should have spots to be connected. run a wire from one spot of button to the small wire on the starter and splice into that wire?
then run another wire from the other connector on the button to a power supply ie battery or fuse box?
i get the 2nd part, just trying to make the first part clear?
below is anothe reply i got on another forum, is this what your saying
"I actually wired mine up to a momentary toggle switch with only 2 wires.. find the small wire on the starter and either cut/splice into it or remove it then run the wire that you spliced or the new wire into the area you want to mount your switch. attach this to one side of the momentary toggle/push button. then run a second wire to a power source (ideally this would be powered only when they key is in the on position however that really doesnt matter as long as it has power) and attach to the other side of the toggle/push button. turn your key on and test... should engage your starter."

yes first part is exactly how you described it. you can put an inline fuse if you would like but not necessary. the other reply you got will work too

OP needs to fix their starter first, no? Do you know if the starter even works, and just the ignition switch is problematic?
