Icon7 Y8 Intake mani on my A6 cylinder head?

So I have a y8 intake manifold and am dying to bolt it on to my a6 for better breathing purposes. But i fear taking everything off only to find out that some sensor doesn't fit properly or has been eliminated. I know that my car doesn't have a map sensor to fit the y8 mani, but that is not what i'm worried about. Would my iacv bolt on properly? Coolant lines all jive up? What parts would I have to alter? Would i need a new pcv? Some answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Use all the Y8 stuff. you can use the Y8 MAP that is on the Y8 throttle body.
then you can eliminate the A6 vacuum line and MAP on the firewall.

The only sensor you will need to relocate is the IAT. The Y8 has it on the plastic intake arm. You can machine a place for it into the Y8 manifold, but it's more work than it's worth. Take your A6 IAT and drill an undersized hole into your stock intake arm. Undersized so that when you push it into the hole it will stay there by itself.
If you have a cold ait intake or whatever aftermaket tube, you can pull the arm away from the throttle body a little and put the hole into the silicone coupler. you can also drill a hole into your metal intake arm and fit it in there with silicone adhesive or tie it on with zip ties or wire or something.

The IAT is what sensor and what does it look like? Sorry if this may seem like a dumb question but i don't know what that acronym stands for or what it looks like.... thanks for the help...

The IAT is the plug the is on the intake runner #1 (closest to the timing belt) on the side. Its the white plastic sensor that connects to the manifold via two screws.

hope your not trying to make the a6 fuel work...
hope that helps

Just put the IAT on the intake tube. I've done this swap and was not hard to do at all. Make sure you use all y8 stuff to get it work though. make sure you use the a6 fuel injectors too if you still using a PM6 ecu.

Not a very clear picture but you get a idea.

I have all the Y8 rails, fpr, etc to get it working right. I still have the pm6 ecu so i will be using my stock injectors. So when i transplant the intake air temp sensor to my short ram intake tube, should i place it closer to the air filter or throttle body? And i'll need to drill a small hole into the intake tube and twist it in there...

^^^Which would be a better fit and yield the best results for performance and fuel economy?

I would drill a hole in the intake tube and then screw it on, no check engine light will come on. I mounted mines under the tube so you can't see it and it closer to the throttle body side.

I now see exactly where you placed it [in the picture]. Ok, i think i will definitely do that. Hopefully this thursday. So intake manifold gasket, Y8 fuel rail, fpr, tb, and manifold, plus the A6 injectors? That and a drill plus a strong epoxy, which should conclude all that i need for this project?
Btw, I would like to know if there were considerable gains or only slight? Thank you for the help. I am very grateful.

I didn't think my D16A6 had a MAP sensor...? This is news to me...?

y8 has the map sensor on top of the throttle body while the Ef has it on the firewall type.

also get a throttle bracket off a 84-86 civic/crx i think for the best angle for the throttle cable. i mean the y8 bracket is fine but puts it at a crazy angle.

So, with the removal of my firewall mounted map sensor, would i also need to eliminate my charcoal canister, and vacuum lines?

That too, I had a hella hard time finding a right one until I came across a Ea civic si throttle cable bracket. Just bend it a little bit and fits great.

Look in my picture, I deleted everything off the firewall. It useless anyway. Only vacuum line I have is for the fpr.

I can deal with just that one line. That makes everything relatively simple. Thanks for the info. I don't feel worried anymore.

How has this upgrade improved the overall performance of your vehicle?

I haven't really drove the car to really notice it. I was more focusing on why my car was smoking at idle. So, I would love to know how noticeable it is and if it made any difference at all.

You can use the Y8 injectors.
If you use the Y8 injectors you need to delete the resistor box.
It might be a bonus benefit if you decide to remove all the stuff from the firewall.

When I did this swap, I didn't use the 84-87 bracket. That's news to me - good to know something is out there for that cable. I ended up flipping the Y8 bracket upside down, like other people were doing at the time, to have it sit on there better.

Actually, this is not possible with an A6 head because the injector ports are shaped differently and do not accommodate the much larger y8 injectors. I know this from actually trying it. But i will flip my throttle bracket upside down. thanks for the great idea.

Interesting.
Do they stick out further or something?
I use them on a Z6 head ... probably very near identical for OBD1 and OBD2 though.

Let me correct myself. The Y8 injectors won't fit on the A6 mainfold. Of course it will fit onto the Y8. Sorry about any confusion. IDK even know why i said that it wouldn't work, i guess i wasnt thinking about what i was saying. sorry.
