Quick question, can d manifolds fit onto a b16? *PICS*
Hi all,
ive just bought this on ebay, but before i drive all the way down, can a D Series manifold really also fit onto a b16 engine (mines a b18, so therefore same as b16?)
in his advert, it says it came off a d series, but will fit on a b series,
can someone confirm this is probably correcT??

I have seen it done. They elongated some of the bolt holes. But the ports don't really line up.There is no way i would do it.
...elongated?? that sounds like a bodge to me! i want the ports to match up, i thought with it being greddy though that it would be a good manifold?
its a garrett, and i presumed it was a T3 from the size in the photos...
regretting bidding on this now, i dont like the idea of it being not a perfect fit

with that cast housing, i would think its an 18g or 15g as that manifold (greddy) comes on b or d with the 18g or 15g respectively
Well if he posted false info on his auction you can retract your bid, or just not pay and justify why on the response page, or just create a new account if he wont retract your bid and bid it 1$ above your bid....the manifolds are close, but not close enough for me to even think of using it.
why would you go ahead a buy something before knowing if it would work with your setup? If it were me, i wouldnt take chances modifying a d-series manifold to work on a b-series engine. I would just buy a b-series manifold and ditch the d-series or sell it.
Have a metal shop saw the flange off your oem cast manifold and saw off the d series flange off the turbo manifold and have them weld the oem flange to the turbo manifold. The ports will line up and I assume it will be cheaper than getting a new manifold. Its a quick fix if you "need " to have it.
I've used a Bseries manifold on a Dseries engine before. I had to rape the bolt holes but it bolted on. Took forever with a carbide porting tip and cutter bit. The runners weren't lined up the best but it worked for a budget build.
IMO, with how cheap you can pick up a log or cast manifold nowadays, it's not worth it.

It wont fit in any reasonable way. Don't worry about it, he posted incorrect information in the item description so you're fine. Contact him and eBay and make sure they know you are not paying for the item. It looks like something you'd find in a dumpster, anyway.
This is the reply from him,

sounds like he is blowin smoke just to make a sell... i'd ask for step by step pictures and if he can not come up with them then i wouldnt buy it... are you getting a really good deal on this or something? doesnt seem worth all the headache...just my .02
Ask for a picture of the bolt holes.
If they more oval shape and not round then they have been modified.
Assuming that he really did run it on a D, then 'maybe' it is a B manifold with modified bolt holes.

he said he would send me photos the other night, theyve still not come through though, ill let you know how it goes! if it lined up perfect, i would havei t, but i dont want something thats not 100% right,

Go down to your parts store and lay a d series exhaust gasket on top of a b series. That will tell you what your getting into.
