Just changed my clutch.... tranny won't go into gear when the car is on. If its off, shifts through the gears fine. Bled clutch fluid ('95 h22a), slave cylkinder moves a good 3/4" to 1" or so. Just dropped the tranny again... on first inspection everything looks fine.... bad pressure plate perhaps?
most of the time when a car will not go into gear or come out of a gear when the car is running but will when it shuts off the slave cylinder is no good. is that a new slave cylinder? what about the master cylinder? is that leaking, or not working right?
did u use a different pressure plate? If so could be the wrong one. did u put the clutch in the right way. u could have flipped it over. if everyting is fine it could be clutch cylinder or clutch slave is bad.

I put in an aftermarket pressure plate for a prelude. Its a new slave cylinder, and there are no leaks (the slave cylinder moves a good 3/4" to 1" when the petal is pressed. The clutch was for sure the right way, and I changed the throwout. I pulled t past night, and you could see markings on the pressure plate from the throwout, so pressing the clutch for sure pushed the throwout onto the pressure plate.

check the release bearing
you might want to take the clutch off and inspect it.

Why don't you try starting the car with the clutch depressed and the car in 1st gear ? That way you'll be able to figure out if the clutch is still grabbing the disc.
Find out where the friction point is. If its really low as in very close to the floor, try adjusting the clutch pedal by loosening the nut on the rod going thru the firewall and rotating the rod.

I wish I would have tried that before I dropped the tranny. I could see on the pressure plate markings where the release bearing had pressed up against it, so I know that the petal was in fact moving the throwout, and the pressure plate was in fact being depressed. I did not know that hydroaulic clutches were adjustable though... I suppose it coudl be possible that if this rod you're talking about is not adjusted right, the scave was not being depressed enough... but it seemed to be moving 3/4" to 1". How often do clutch petal rods have to be adjusted when adfermarket pressure plates are installed?
I did grease the inside of the release bearing...

hm.... it felt like it was engaging as soon as I began to press on the petal... it was definitely much stiffer than stock.
My CRX tranny did the same thing when I changed the clutch for my swap. could not get it to go in gear with the car running, but when it was off no problem. Turns out I just the cable adjusted WAY too tightly...
