***.... i searched and i couldnt find a comprehensive post to what I was looking for.
I feel like 160 a month is high for the given car... I've become so used to paying like 300 a year for my bike and 600 a year for my car.

well try using the FAQ's up top, that clearly has an Insurance? link and a list of every jackass that ever strolled into here asking that very same question.
the rundown answer is GO CHECK WITH YOUR INSURANCE AGENT. the rates of other people won't affect your rates in any way shape or form, shop around and ask for quotes and possible discounts you may have merited. these cars are high for theft and low on safety(due to not having side airbags) so you can imagine why the insurance wants to charge you more for it.

yeah of course, just don't expect them to pay for any damages.. ever... or defend your case vs. the other big bad insurance companies out there
Under my name(24yrs old and good driving record) they wanted $220 a month and under my dad 121 a month.

GREAT POST.. this is what i wanted to see... I'm 24 in southern FL... Coverage with that high of limits is going to cost me over 2k a year. Sucks cuz when i was in buffalo, I was paying under 600 a year. doh.
Once you hit 9+ years of driving experience, most insurance companies have a mature drivers discount, also depending on your driving history. This is the lowest premium I have ever had with such excellent coverage. I was previously with Farmers Insurance for 7 years and obviously in my earlier 20's, my premium was excessively high, but it gets better over time. I was paying somewhere around $2100 per year for my premium 2 years ago with Farmers Insurance, also keep in mind with less coverage. Time Heals All.
my insurance works out to be approx $28US a month - seems i have a good deal..
is insurance mandatory in the US? - it's purely voluntary here - crazy i know..
