Timing Belt Advice: I searched also please hear me out
Okay so the other week I was driving home from the Y when my car just up and died because my timing belt exploded. I have a d16z6 motor and installed the new timing belt, placed the cam on TDC and I lined up the line on the crank pulley.
The problem I'm having is that it is still running a little late like the valves are opening up too late. The idle is a bit rough basically. I'm wondering if I should do a compression test to see how each cylinder is doing.
Also maybe the line I used on the crank pulley is wrong too. I used the middle of the three, or was it the first of the two lines that I needed to use?
Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

do a compression test... ur supposed to use the first line on the crank pulley. sounds like you have a tweaked valve :-\
hows your idle?
hows your idle?
Yes the idle is a little rough, not terrible, but not how it should sound. Even when I had it lined up on the first line it idled rough and would be a bit choppy.
I'm no mechanic so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a good chance he needs to set his timing? Wouldn't it be completely off after the timing belt ripped (assuming that the engine is still in decent shape).

D16z6's set their timing different then d15b7's. You use a different cam line then you would for the d15b7. You need to get a timing gun and see if your timing is at 16 degrees. Because if it is at 16 degress then the only thing that I can think of is bent valves. Do a compression test if you think your timing is good then it'll tell you if you have bent valves or not.
CAn you still see the color marks on the crank pulley ? the book for my car says the red or pink line, which like stated before is the first line.
We were trying to set my timing 2 weeks ago to the white and kept coming up 1 or 2 teeth off. I drove it to Whitfield racing and they set it to the red, which is what the book said.
