Will anything bad happen if you rotate the crankshaft pulley clockwise too far?
Hey,
Say you are lining up TDC for the #1 piston, and you kinda off past the mark...can you turn the crankshaft pulley back the other way (clockwise) to get it right? I know the crank turns counterclockwise, but isn't it a bitch to go over the mark and have to keep on turning the pulley to line up again? I've decided not to change the timing belt but instead to adjust my valves, I'm gonna shell out the whatever amount it is to change the belt. Thanks again.

shouldn't be a problem unless you heard a cracking sound or it became harder to rotate as you turned it.

Alright cool, thanks man...I guess I am just being over paranoid about changing a timing belt which is why I decided just to do my valves then bring the car to a dealer for the belt change. I just hear all these horror stories that it's so hard to do and if you mess up your engine will blow up and whatever. Maybe it is true, I have yet to see it. I got a Helm's manual, but still have some questions. It's just that some people scared me into thinking it's the hardest thing in the world. I guess some stuff gets exaggerated? I dunno, it's cool though. Thanks again for the reply.
