I have a 99 civic hatch with rear wiper and I need the windshield wiper switch. I bought one off of HT that seemed like it would work but it is slightly different. It doesn't seem like it is for a 92-95 or anything vastly different because it is very similar. Anyone know what is compatible?

Are all 96-00 civics compatible? only 99-00? only hatches with hatches, sedans with sedans, etc?

I need windshield wipers again, so if anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

 

First off USA sedans dont have rear wipers.
2nd all you had to do was get on slhondaparts.com or call your dealer and ask them if they're the same. Yes 96-00 are the same

I understand that the sedans and coupes don't have rear wipers..But that doesn't mean that the rest of the switch isn't compatible (I don't have my rear wiper hooked up anyways).

And I understand that I can search the part numbers, but I am trying to get a better understanding of the switches because I obviously got a switch that is extremely similar but still won't fit and I want to find out where it came from so that way I do not get the same one again.

Or take that part number to your dealer and have them tell you what other models match it

For a '96-'00 Civic DX hatch you will need another DX hatch rear wiper. They should all be the same though.

The coupes, sedans and CX hatches do not have a rear wiper and therefore use a different wiper switch.

As far as what switch you have, I don't know if the standard switch will fit a car meant to have a rear wiper.

 

'92 - '95 wiper switches look identical to '96 - '00 to the untrained eye

They will, standard switches have a white dummy plug for the wiring going to the rear wiper to plug into. Obviously the rear wiper wont work using a standard switch, but the front wipers will work fine.
