Default Is this a ITR head?

I purchased a "ITR head" but it's kind of keeping me worried that it might not be legit because it doesn't have the green stamp, but the intake side does have porting. Sorry for bad quality pictures It's the only ones I could get for right now.

no green stamp

Did it have all the valves and valve springs? Type R Factory head should have dual valve springs on both intake and exhaust side. The intake valves are like 12 percent lighter then non type R. both the intake and exhaust side should have some very minor port work. I think all they do is hand polish the ports not sure though.
Take off the dizzy cap and look for green. (it could have worn off) If the head came as a PR3-3 with no exhaust valves or springs, or cams then I would be worried too.
Although the only real difference in a B16 head and a Type R is the internals and light hand port/polish. The port in the last pic does not look hand polished to me.
Without all the internals and green makes it hard to tell. If you got a triple beam you can weigh the intake valves and compare to stock B16 valves if you got em. (NO idea what they should way though.
If you got a B16 head with type R internals when you bought it..... It is really close to a type R. Hope this helps some.

It is not a "light port/polish". It is just a bowl blend, which the head pictured above has. That is an "R" head.

thank you people i appreciate it. and as far as valve springs/retainers I bought the head bare. And they didn't make 99 ITR, but the stamp 99 means it's a 2000 model head.. someone correct me If I'm wrong.

I can't wait until I bring this head over to you I'm still on process of researching on my build/valvetrain, but soon!

FYI sometimes if you use something like castrol superclean or even simple green it will wash the "green" paint right off.

if I'm not mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but itr heads have p73 stamped on the head instead of pr3.

Nope, R's have pr3 on them just like b16's.. they are from the same casting.

How much did you get this Bare head for? If you were planning on having CC port it from the get go, you should have just gotten a B16 head, unless if you got this head for really cheap.

it looks like it has the sparkplug stuck in the head still, overtorqued perhaps?

all my ITR heads have been PR3-4. depending on the era of the head depends on the casting numbers.

Why does it have to be stuck in there? He probably just hasnt removed it.

FWIW, I would never run those plugs in any engine.

there was no rhyme or reason to the R heads, they used to just pluck them right off the PR3 line, touch em up a little and give it to the engine builder to be assembled on the R motors by hand. theres a documentary on youtube. its pretty good.

thats just a good job of bad information being passed around the internet. i remember when i got my first ITR head. i freaked. i thought the exact same thing. light polishing of the ports and what i had was exactly what you have in your hands.

I wasn't planning on porting it out originally I just wanted to have it cleaned out, but now I want to port it out a bit. What do you guys think about having the intake side ported out only and having the exhaust side cleaned out a bit?

Think about what you are saying, that is like saying, I'm gonna get a cold air intake, 68mm throttle body, Edelbrock intake manifold but keep my exhaust manifold and exhaust system stock.
