Default Taking apart a Type R Recaro?

Has anyone done this before to a Type R seat (or any other reclineable seat)? Being in Japan, I've got a few friends who have been asking me for these seats, but the only way I can ship them for a reasonable price is to use the USPS military post office. Problem is, the fully assembled seat is over the 130" length+girth size limit.

I've heard with some seats it's as simple as removing a big bolt from each side, and the back rest comes right off of the base.

Also, would taking the seat apart and then re-assembling it cause any safety issues? Assuming it is assembled correctly of course.

Any info on this would be appreciated! Thanks!
