i want to buy skunk2 cams but not sure what to go with . how much power will i gain with the skunk2 cams and will i pass the sniffer i live in ca. also it is a 97 jdm type r

 

imo i think blox are much better because they are cheaper and pretty much have the same specs as skunk 2

i have the dc 2.5 racing header ,skunk2 intake manfold ,intake, no cat, and cat back exhaust,

 

ur not gonna pass it with no cat

 

i know but if i had a cat would i pass smog with cams

 

with the skunk2 tuner series 1 cam itll will pass smog.

 

how much power gain will it be

 

dont know, its a little bit more agressive than the itr

 

but before you get cam, should get a cat first

get jdm stlye type-r cat(2.5) the stage 2 tuner series cam is great for what you need. compression is not too high, good fuel economy, very streetable, but big notice in power gain. Any cam with same specs as the S2 stage 2 tuner series will be fitting. just remember you should use a header w/ 2.5" donut and 2.5" axle back

 

the stage 2 won't pass smog and is lazy at 10:1 compression, it also requires a VT upgrade

the stage one is a great fit but also should be tuned since this entire motor is no longer a GSR

 

i would go with buddyclub 3s they are less aggressive than skunk2 stage1s but provide more power over the powerband, just less on the top end

 

i should pass, but like they said w/ no cat forget about it!!! DOnt get stage 2 unless you plan on doing smog then putting them in, and taking them back out when you need to re smog again.
