Tried Searching.. My car isnt in vtec when I shift into 2nd gear.
Okay.. If I get on it and shift from first to second at 8200 rpms it bogs.. or its like I shifted to early.. Its not in vtec when I shift.. I Know my friends hatch he has an h22 he let me drive it and you have to kind of bounce off the rev limiter for a quick second or if you dont it wont be in vtec when he shifts into second.. I dont think Im spinning, I have a b16 in a crx, and I dont have a rev limiter..I dont think, im almost positive. I have a Zydyne chipped ecu that is supposed to hit vtec at 5200 and rev limit at 8200.. The gauge cluster tells me vtec is hittin around 5800 rpms, not 5200.. I dont know if my gauge cluster is off and Maybe im shifting to early?? Or WHAT!!!! Did i earase the chip maybe? and not the ecu????? I dont know much about ecu's or much of anything really, Im just starting to kind of get the hang of everything really.. I did put a Fidanza 7lb flywheel on i before I put everything in.. maybe I didnt clean it good enough and it slips a little???? Im not sure about any of this please help me.. thanks
Small note... you DO have a rev limiter. if you didn't your engine would detonate due to overrevving of the engine. I think you mean speed limiter. (not trying to sound like a jerk just thought you would like to know.) Now.... if things are working in every other gear it may very well be the transmission (I doubt that) or the ecu. I think that the guys in the forum may be able to help more on this one.
I have a 91 honda crx hf.. my friend said he 15 inch wheels and other crap could possibly make the tach read off.. i said thats bullcrap but idk.. It hits in the same spot on the rpms everytime.. so i thought maybe the cluster wasnt off.. idk.. i even try to rev it out as much as i can and bang 2nd its like it just bogs.. i noticed when reved all the way it wasnt like it had a rev limit.. it was like a fuel cut out??
Which transmission do you have? The gear ratio of you tranny has alot to do with how quickly you get in and out of the vtec range. Your 7lbs flywheel is another factor, it's too light and will lose its momentum quickly between shift, causing your rpm to drop faster.
Wheels won't have any effect on the tach.
Tach is getting it's signal from a wire coming out of the distributor.
It counts the revolutions of the cam - not the wheels.

ok.. yea i do have a 7lb flywheel.. maybe i need to shift alot faster? i have a b16 with ls tranny... i know.. bad.. supposebly type R cams, and an old aes? intake manifold.. (think i spelled it wrong idk)..

I was gonna say it sounds like you might have an LS tranny and then...
I played with a gear/mph calculator and found that if you're maxing out 1st gear at 8200rpms you'd roughly be at 41.6mph (estimated because the calculator only goes up to 8000rpms). Now, looking at what rpms you'd be at in second gear at the same speed you'd be at 5000rpms which is just shy of your 5200rpm VTEC engagement point. Having said that, regardless of if your tach is giving you inaccurate readings your setup prevents you from staying in VTEC when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear.
NOTE: Calculated on 195/50R15, but tire/rim size is irrelevant since this is based on engine speed.
If you want to play with the calculator you can find it here:

There's your problem. The ls trans has a larger 1st-2nd drop in ratio than a b16 trans. Add a really light flywheel in the mix and you get too much rpm drop between gears. Get yourself a jdm S1/j1, y1 or ys1 gsr trans.
