Default Power Windows ain't working..and its freaken cold!

So my windows can roll down but not up. And it's cold. (opened to smoke) Can it be the window motor? I mean the window will go down but not up. I also cannot roll it down from the driver or the passenger switch. I switched the passenger side switch for a known working switch and it still doesn't work. I also have an alarm hooked up from the previous owner and the alarm did start acting up. I'm thinking that might be the root of the problem but am not sure. I'd like to know if it's either the alarm or a window motor? I don't know if it could be the alarm too because my alarm doesn't control the windows, but it does control the locks and that don't work either. If anyone has any suggestions please help. Because here in wisconsin it's mighty cold.

Huh?! I'm confused, will they or will they not roll up? We talkin' about the passenger side only, or both?

Anyway, let me ask you this, did the windows seem to roll up really slow for a time, like the motors were strainin' to get them up? Sounds like your window guides/tracks just need a lube. I'm having the same trouble. My driver's side would roll down, but when it comes to rolling up, it's a little slow, even stopping midway, especially when it's cold out. Don't force it with the button. You might burn the motors.

What you gotta do is take off both door panels, spray the tracks with the windows up, then do the same with the windows down. Makes sure to do both tracks for each door (front that runs down A-pillar, as well as the B-pillar). Do a search on how to take the panels off...easy, but a little tricky 'cuz there's a couple of wire connectors behind the panel.

I don't think it's your alarm since it doesn't control the windows. And if you can roll them down, your motors aren't out. They're just not that powerful if there's too much resistance.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Its unlikely that both window motors are busted. If it can go one direction then the switch works and the motor works. I would investigate into this alarm system further.

Yup yup, that's what I thought. However, he did say that his alarm doesn't control the windows...

i'm going to have to check out the wiring for the alarm. Because now none of the switches work for all 4 windows. I didn't install the alarm so I don't even know where to begin. There's tons of wires with so little room under the dash. i took out the fuse for the alarm but I guess that don't work..Cheap *** alarm.
