I'm taking my 90 Si hatch in to the dealer to have them check out my seatbelts, which are supposedly covered under lifetime warranty. The retractor mechanism hasn't worked since I've had the car, but the main point of concern is that the belt is always loose and would provide no restraint in the event of an accident.
Has anyone had theirs replaced under warranty? Did the dealership cover replacing the retractors as well?
Thanks for responses.

At this point...your seatbelts, lol. That's the only lifetime warranty...and I'm surprised they replaced them for the concerns listed. Usually it's only covered for fraying, not retractors, but good for them. I'm glad some dealerships like to take care of their customers...ahem, not mine, cough cough...
how do you know if your seatbelts dont really work. i read this and went to my car and yanked my belt real hard and it didnt lock up. should i look into going to the dealership and asking about it.
on my 90 sedan the seatbelts are automatic. BUt on the passenger side it sometimes moves on its own. Could that be covered on this lifetime warranty?
I brought mine in and they didn't replace it. Mine seatbelts on my hatch are on the door and they don't fully retract and get slammed in the door when I close it. They gave me some BS response saying that they where intended to be "passive restraint" meaning they where never meant to be unbuckled. They do the job of retaining me when stopping short but they are a pain in the *** when they get slammed in the door when closing it.
Anybody work for a Honda Dealership in the Philly area that thinks they can take care of it for me? PM ME!

so i finally just decided to go to the dealership and find out since my belts dont work. so they checked it out. but you have to sign saying you will pay $150 if something has been tampered with. so i signed it. nothing was tampered with and they said they will order the parts and schedule a day to have it fixed at no cost.
ill let you guys no what happens after they fix it.
also im going to take my wagon in and see what happens since its got the auto seat belts and they dont slide back and forth they are stuck at the front.

went to my local dealership here. very disappointed.
First they act like they have never heard of replacing belts.
second say that i am not the original owner of the car if there was such a thing it wouldnt be coverd anyways,
third, finally admitted to warrenty and told me i had to pay the $364 labor charge to replace.
after telling him i would do the work,
he tells me he cant warrenty them if i do the work.

If i pull my seat belt all the way out it should lock up intill it's retracted all the way back in?
I have a 1989 honda civic si hatch
Im the 3rd owner
No accidents on car and the dealer strictly enforced this and asked me repedetly. Im sure they check and i think that this is how they get by to void the lifetime warrenty.
The dealer here in cali changed my front seat buckles and driver side seat belt for free all included labor. They did not replace my passenger side because they said that the belt was discontinued so they told me that they found a replacement from the junkyard(supposably).
Hope this helps.....
