what does the oil orifice that goes where I indicated in this picture do?

 

feeds oil to the head

 

would it lower the overall oil pressure of the engine if it was Not installed?

 

I dont think its an option NOT to install it...

i know it is NOT an option. I overlooked it, I am putting it in this weekend. My question is... with OUT it installed on a running engine, what occurs? I have only started the motor and noticed the cold start oil pressure is really low unlike what it is SUPPOSED to be like 50+ PSI at cold startup. SO i am now thinking this is my main issue why :O) **** happens.

 

There is nothing to install

 

that part is definetly the reason you have low pressure if its not installed

 

starve your cams of oil most likely..

Yeah I think its prob not getting the needed oil to the head.

Ya, that's the oil control orifice. Reduces the hole size, thus resulting in a pressure increase.

 

without the orifice installed, you'll be over oiling the head and thus less oil pressure

so if you leave this out the oil pressure would be really low but the head would get all kindas of oil ???

 

haha...The first engine I tore apart and put back together I had that left over put it on one of the valve cover screws cuse it looked like one of those tiney important parts and i didnt know where it went...

That motots still sitting in my garage..and basement...and buddys house......$10 anyone haha

I got the same ? as boostedb20z. Lots of oil to the head without it???
