99 civic si worth it? 4000?
i was told it has a clean title, black paint looks good as far as paint goes, has a two dents on on trunk which is bent in a lil on the cornor, and a door dent on driver door, has 195k i think he is the 2nd owner, its black and all stock he wasnts 4000 firm no less.. good deal or not a good deal? i asked him if the timing belt was done he said he doesnt know they got the car at 180k about a year ago. is there anything i need to be worried about 195k? i know its a honda an all. anything i should check on hondas with high millage, im some wat mechanical so i know a lil. any imput would be great.
dang that's almost 200k, but then again it's clean title, i say it's an ok price. especially because from the sound of it, it hasn't been raced, modified, etc. but if you can try getting him down to like 3700, and tell him that those extra 300 will go towards, a timing belt and water pump.
thanks anymore imput would be great.. i also just did a carfax and it looks like the car has a clean title, but 3 owners not 2, carfax looks good only thing is he owned it for only 8 months but the previous owner had it for 7 years
price is good. miles is high.. so its really up to you. if the car runs fine keep in mind the cost/time needed to do as posted above a full tune up. of course check oil leaks. bad bushings, broken axles.
he needs to not be too firm if it has body work that needs to be done. pulling a dent and a new trunk will be anywhere from $200 to $400 I'd say. and after nearly 200k miles, check out the interior for wear&tear.
other than that, you'll be happy w/ the purchase no doubt.

I would ask him to go through with a compression and leakdown test. That is the only real way to tell if the motor is solid... If the compression is good than $4000 is a solid price. However with not knowing the maintenance history of the car a lot of small things can go wrong at that high mileage... Who knows when it will need a new distributor, alternator, iacv, pcv valve, hydraulic clutch parts, etc... Those are just a few of the things to look out for. I would jump on it though...
