Default B20 all motor tips and help please

looking at a reliable swap for my 93 ej1
its going to be driving in the cold winter of canada baby!
much fun comes down to less than zero fahrenheit often so yeah, its pretty cold

i scrapped my turbo ls idea because i DONT want boost in the SUPER cold

i was aiming to build a b20 using QUALITY used parts and peice it together slowly

b20 builders, you got some good tips on building a solid b20?

i was thinking a b16 head so b20 vtec

doing internal work and aiming for 200+ whp if thats possible?

my budget on the motor, tranny and head PLUS building parts is about $3,000-$4,000

is this possible guys?

thanks a lot

It'll probably cost you more than 4k for everything

hey, its possible but its going to take a little while.

right now, people are broke and selling **** for crackhead prices. my suggestion is save the money FIRST, then start buying.

i have bought complete VTEC heads with manifold and dizzy for 150 dollars and B20 blocks with crank and rods with a damaged piston for 75 dollars.

wait til someone buys one of these vteckidd headers for 400, cant make rent and has to sell it for 300 brand new.

i sound like a monster *** hole but take advantage of people in shitty situations because they will do the same to you if given the chance.

so, in short, you can build a good solid 200hp b20vtec for 4k, barely, if you have the money FIRST and pounce on the opportunities.

eg couper are you within a close range of toronto?

if so join the tcc(torontocivics.com) forum and look up a b16 within the classifieds, youll find a b16a2 with itr goodies going for 1400 canadian,

you can always bargain and considering he has been asking for that for a while I think he would be up for 1250 easily(the whole swap) then purchase a b20 which on average go's for 500 canadian and buy an crvtec kit for 300, add a tune and youll have a cheap b20vtec(the whole swap) for around 2300 canadian($1800 u.s) with a close b16 gearbox and everything needed to just drop it in. not enough? then spend the extra 2200 to rebuild that b20 reliably and strong!

b20vtec with good compression, simple bolt-ons and a good tune will get you close to your goal!
