Default Hooking up my alpine to my EK..

Hi guys,

I have an oldschool Alpine deck (CDA-9815) but I like it so I'm keep it and want to put it in my EK.

I had it in my EG, but the thing is the trim around it had broken clips and kept falling off. And the metal piece that goes around the deck is also all bent and hacked up now.

I want a perfect install on my Civic, can someone tell me exactly what I need? It's a 2000 hatch.

I will obviously need a harness and a kit for the Civic that has the pocket under it, but, what about the trim around the deck and the metal piece thing? Do I have to get that from Alpine since it's an Alpine deck, or are they generic things that I can just get for any deck?

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Honda-Civic-1999-...3A1|240%3A1318

Would that work? Do I need anything else?

Here is what I have, but the plastic trim and metal piece are both damaged so I would need replacements. Thanks

trim ring---http://cgi.ebay.com/Alpine-Trim-Ring-CDA-9805-CDA-9811-CDA-9813-CDA-9815_W0QQitemZ350172797747QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_De faultDomain_0?hash=item350172797747&_trksid=p3286. c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39 %3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

no luck finding the metal brace on ebay, see if you can just bend it back, its not going to affect the way it sits in the dash.
what your looking at will fit.

Sweet, thanks.

Is that eBay kit decent quality? Like will it fit fine and they're all the same or would I be better off buying one from an audio shop ? I don't want it to have fitment issues..

Skip the kit, and you will not need the bent up cage, use ISO mounting the install HU, mount it like the stock HU is mounted.
Some filing of the mounting holes in the stock bracket will be needed to "center" the HU in the opening and set depth, [how flush you want the face of the HU to be in relation to the stock pocket.

The ISO mount is much better then with a kit, [a lot more solid] and no back support is needed with the ISO mount and it looks a lot more stock then with a kit.94

Thanks, although I have no idea what ISO means, I'll see if I can mount it like the original.

I'm pretty sure I'll need a kit though seeing as I have the deck + cd player under it, so it's liek a double din stock.

I called a local audio shop and they want 45 plus tax for the harness plus dash kit. The one on ebay is like 25 bucks shipped. I don't mind spending more if it actually fits better, but I don't know if it will...

Anyone know a place where I can order a godo quality kit online ?

Have you called up Crutchfield, or looked on their website? www.crutchfield.com
They should have everything you need, and have been in business for decades. I have never been disappointed when dealing with them.

ISO is the way the stock HU is mounted.
You can get the harness at any car audio shop for $15 or less, hit up a wrecker or maybe local car audio shops or even members here for the stock pocket, should be less then $25 total.94

PS, if you are going to get a kit, get the Metra one, [99-7898], Best kits also makes a pretty good one.
