Default B20 vs B20 VTEC

So I have a JDM B20B and I was wondering what kind of HP and Torque numbers it puts out stock and how much would a stock B20 VTEC put out? The long block that I got is an OBD2 and I'm running OBD1 Civic, so my second question is so I need to get an OBD1 distributor and intake manifold?

Thanks

b20b stock is 126hp and 132lbs of torque I believe.. A stock b20b block with a stock b16 head and tranny will only give you like 160-165whp.. which is pretty decent for a stock setup.. a b20z bottom block will probably give you 170-175whp.. it depends on setup. You do not need to get a obd1 distributor.. You can just solder all the wires into place and it should work or you can go to passwordjdm and buy the converter plugs for like $35 bucks.. and as for intake manifold it depends on your head..

b20v will prob have the same torque and then prob get 20+ hp.

I'm still trying to decide if it is worth doing a B20 VTEC or keeping it a stock B20. I've actually have 2 B16 heads lying around: one stock and the other has been ported and has a valve job.

Its only worth doing the b20 vtec if you build the bottom block properly.. otherwise your prone to failure.. check out my signature on the b20 block Im trying to sell for b20 vtec.. that is a built strong b20 block that you would want for a reliable b20vtec..

I've seen that thread before and I think that I will most likely use it to build the B20 VTEC. Really the only thing that I really need to get would be a conversion kit, but what about a block guard? I have a friend that used one but is it worth the money?

naw you dont need block guards.. but if you want to sleeve it then I say go for it and bore it out to like 85mm with aftermarket pistons! it will be a beast

dont need block guard if just mild n/a. but if boosting or spraying thing yes. also, really depends what you wanna do. if looking for reliability, stock b20 would be way more reliable than a b20vtec(no matter how well it was built) because the b20 is stock. factory built and torqued to factory specs and everything, but wont be as fun as b20vtec. if looking for speed, b20vtec would give you the power and torque, also dont be afraid of the reliablity thing. if built right and not beat on, it should last a fairly long time.

I figured that I would keep the stock B20 for awhile and see how I like it and then swap to B20 VTEC. I am also wanting to make around 250 HP all motor, so if I keep the B20 what sort of mods can I do to get close to that 250 HP mark?
