still Newb (kinda new member post)
i've had my ef since 06 and it's still kinda stock.
i had purchased it from my ex boss (from best buy) and he had a aftermarket exhaust installed w/ auto start and a new sound system installed (which involved cutting 2 holes in the trunk cover).
i just replaced the engine with a remanufactured stock. i also replaced the starter, which still grinds before it actually starts.
the truth is, i don't know much of anything about cars, just kinda the basics. but there is so much i want to learn about my car and i want to do it all my self.
i'm a pro solder (ex laptop tech for best buy) and i was hoping you guys could help me out with a few things (just information NOT asking for handouts).
the first thing i want to do, is tweak my stock ECU.
i don't expect a reply, so if someone could help me out with some pointers, i would be EXTREMELY grateful.
i am also looking for a few parts. i know they may be hard to find, but that won't stop me from apprehending them.

REALLY REALLY REALLY NEED THIS SPOILER!

i'd rather have these instead of having holes cut in my trunk cover.
and if i'm getting this, i'll need a new trunk cover as well.

i also want these moldings, but don't have to have the red painted into the groove (i can do it my self if it costs less to do so)
i don't need any of these parts any time soon being as i can't afford them right now. but i will have them sooner or later. so let's just make them sooner.
if anyone has anywhere i can find these parts, it would be AMAZING if you could share that information with me.
things i want to do to my EF besides the pictures:
full DX to SiR conversion, INC, sunroof, seats, Tranny swap (auto to stick), Cluster, and of course the B16a.
i also need a new hood and a replacement passenger side door (don't know if it's worth it to pop out the dent)

If you are/were such a nerd then you know how to search. Look in the FAQs at the top of the CRX/EF forum and explore. Also the starter grinds because it is improperly adjusted on the teeth of the flexplate (I assume you have an automatic). Loosen the two bolts and clock the starter more towards the center of the motor. If that don't work then the teeth are probably stripped.
Come on man somebody has to keep the Leagacy of the Rice alive and we need newbs to do it for us. This makes sure we can lean back and giggle like school girls and talk how badass WE are... Or wait am I missing something...???

i wasn't trying to post anything stupid. i was just trying to get some advice with hope that someone would have mercy and not kill me for posting something they thought was retarded.
i'm just here because i want to do it all my self, and learn how and why it all works.
1 other (probably stupid) question:
where did you guys all learn about your cars? was it just tweaking with them? or classes? or just experience? or what?
i really want to learn.

I lived on a farm and pretty much just played and tinkered with everything I got my hands on. All mechanical things are easy to figure out, especially cars. You just have to have common sense and be able to take the time to look at it and understand it then after a lot of experiance it becomes second nature. Being good with mechanical things typically can't be learned it just comes natural. Sure you can teach yourself things but if you lack the aptitude then you will never be proficient. Anybody can do something, not everyone can do it right.
No, it used to be a mix.

ya, i'm pretty sure that i can learn as long as i have the tools needed for the job.
i've always been kinda afraid of doing anything under my hood my self because i just don't want to screw things up.
i guess that's why i'm here, to learn what i need to do it right.

dude if you want simple things to do and have money to spend like 40-50 at a time usually you can first off fix your starter (pull it out and check the teeth and flywheel if just bald then fix either resurface if not bad or replace if gone)
then head to multi point conversion if the car is bone stock and since your good with wires it will be really simple for you (simply move 2 wires and connect 2 more) write up is in faq just search dpfi to mpfi and play with the settings

THANK YOU.
(another Newb *** question {please don't kill me})
what is the difference between dual point fuel injection and multi point fuel injection?

simple dpfi is only using 2 injectors for all 4 your cyls. and mpfi changes to 1 to each making it easier for the motor to feed itself
so, every thing's still stock. besides my exhaust. do you have anything you'd recommend in swapping dpfi to mpfi?

anyways, I am also interested on those moldings and from my time on honda-tech I have never asked (or discovered) what car they are from. How do you search that? I searched 'molding with stripe' and it didnt return with any valid threads.. Are they off an SIR? I was talking to 89hatcher because he has them on his car and he said they are stock (STD). Is this correct? It would be great if someone could clarify Thanks in advance for any HELP.

i'm pretty sure they're JDM. but i could be (and probably am) wrong.
i just kinda stumbled onto the pics to tell you the truth. and i saw them on someone's EF in a target parking lot.
to tell you the truth, i don't really care for the red stripe, i just like the indent in moldings.
i like this site because it tells me exactly what something is called.
