Rear-ended...
Just wondering if anyone knows about salvage titles? I was rear ended for the 3rd time in a year, I have some pretty bad interior damage. The car is totally driveable and doesn't look bad, but was totalled because the cost of repair exceeded the 65% rule. Anyone know what I can do with this car to get maybe a rebuilt title? or maybe a cheap way to fix the interior damage? I want to put as little money in the car as possible as, because after this accident...I think i am giving up on the car. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Thanks
The DMV will tell you to have you car inspected to prove it legally
roadworthy, all lights and safety equipment works correctly.
The sherriffs dept performs the inspections here in KY.
After inspection you can obtain a rebuilt title.
Your local DMV will be able to tell exactly what to do and
where to go. Hope this helps you out.

Sounds about right. All of my lights work, and the only external visible damage is the cornor of my bumper is haning off and the hatchdoor is a little dented. On the inside the metal is rippled and torn from the stress/shock of the impacts. Has anyone dealt with the dmv personally getting their car approved to be deemed safe to drive?
One more question...if i have a salvage title, i know it is not legal to sell the car, but what about signing over a salvage title...would that work?

You can buy and sell cars with salvage titles. Some states, however, do not allow salvage titled vehicles on their roadways (so people often sell them out of state). I've bought and sold a couple cars with salvaged titles, and as long as you let the person know the vehicle have a salvage title, everything should be A-OK.
Make sure you re-attach the bumper to the vehicle securely, and all lights work. Assuming there is no obvious physical/safety concerns with the vehicle, you shouldn't have any problem with the police station/sherriffs station approving it.
