time for a new/newer transmission?
i have a 91 ls and my transmission along with the body has 225k miles on it. i have no fifth gear and its getting really hard to get it in and stay in third gear. im pretty sure i need a new/newer transmission. does anyone know whats a good mileage for one? will any cable clutch from a b-series motor work, how much does one run new or used and a good place to get one? a answer to any of those questions would be greatly appreciated lol.
cant really say i mean obviously anything below 100,000 should be better than what you have. cheapest route might me a rebuild but if you decide to get a new one get a ys1 thats a cable clutch gsr tranny.
If you want your tranny rebuilt pm me if you in my area. As for milage anythig below 100,000 for a ys1 cable is ganna be hard to find but don't get one over 150,000. The 90-91 clutches are diffrent than 92-93 so make sure you know what year tranny ur gettin or you'll have troubble getting it in your car. The tranny have diffrent mainshafts in those years and a b17 is ganna be hard to find. I've had both and I prefers the 93 ls mine pulls to 90 in 3rd gear. As to 75 in the Gsr.
