Default Need Help pls - Vss for 95 delsol

Okay heres the senerio....
I bought a vss which ended up being the wrong one. I bought a second vss honda part which was the correct match... The gauge worked perfect around the block but then the next day it didnt work... I hit a puddle of water in the roadway and it started to work again. but then quit once again. I have been told it was a bad ground....
I started the car one day (car was in neutral) the speedometer started jumping from 40 to 90 mph and the odmeter was just adding miles on.
I have ground wire the battery neg to the body frame engine head block manafold valvecore bracketts, and the sensr still is not working, but will work if i hit a puddle hard bump or its raining.
I have now cut open the wire harnes pulled two sensors wires out all the way to the firewall last plug before it enters the dash - one to ignition and one to signal. stripped the wire just to the side of firewall.
I want to solder the new wire from the sensor wire at the firewall, bypass any bad wires or plugs.
Diagrams show ignition wire 12v and signal wire goes to cpu and speedometer and cruise (which i dont have). New wire should bypass all bad wires and connections right?
What else could it be or what else could go wrong.....
anyone able to help.... Please???
Thank you
