hey guys i have a 90 crx si. There seems to be some electrical probs. the lights dim when i use the cig lighter or anything else and the rpms will drop.
the heat is the main prob because its so cold in my area. It has worked 3 times, all of which i was driving on the highway for an extended period of time.
any ideas what it could be?
the bat is new, and i do have a sub but even when its not on i seem to have probs.
also if i sit at idle my car will overheat, im thinking its because the fan is not spinning.

 

do the following...
take your battery to autozone or partsource or whatever, get them to test it.
if the battery is fine, check your amp. could be the control wire...
for the time being, disconnect your amp. i disconnected the power cord from mine, and my car has been fine. my amp is improperly connected, and i havent had time to fix it.
another thing could be that you have the wrong fuse in your fuse box?

my car's battery would drain completely if i let it sit with the sub on, and the ac. even if i had the ac on, and i was at a stop light, and i left my foot on the brake, it would slowly die... that is with my amp on as well. so i got a new battery, and disconnected my amp. everything is peachy now.


as far as overheating goes... check to see if the fan kicks in.
check the oil... check the coolant...

 

the alternator can't handle the extra load. You need a capacitor

 

If the power drain is even when the car is off, it is the amp control wire.
A capacitor will cure this for sure... as DRAMA has said.

I NEED TO GET A CAP.
