obd2 b18c1 in 1990 honda crx si
hey i was wondering... i have a 1996 acura integra gsr but i kinda put it in the ditch... so its all twisted and banged up but the motor runs great. instead of bringin it to a body shop and getting it pulled back into place( if it could be) i bought a 1990 honda crx which i have always wanted. its in mint condition body kit and 18 inch rims but it only has the sohc d16 non vtec motor. i was wonder if it would be possible to swap my b18c1 into my rex. i know about the hasport mounts and the thing to make it cable/hydro but like would h have to change all my wiring or just the engine harrness. dont really want to rip apart the interior too bad but i do want the motor. and another thing i was reading about the gsr cluster in the rex how does it fit in there? does the dash fit too maybe? anyways id appreciate it if someone could fill me in with some info.
thanks,
Justin
thanks,
Justin
we offer a wiring conversion for that swap
we would need the engine harness from the gsr and the engine harness from the crx
you can give us a call if you have questions

Get the proper mounts/linkage, get a RyWire jumper harness, convert to OBD1, connect proper wires....done. I'm obviously missing a few steps in there, but that's about the gist of it.
when i convert my car to obd 1 would i have to get a obd1 ecu or could i run my obd2 ecu? and would i be able to use my gsr shift linkage and axles?

this is my ls cluster, but as you can see its fits pretty well.

-pull out the dust rings from inside your hubs. this allows more room for the axle to move and prevents the constant velocity joints from binding on lowered vehicles.

--if you intend on keeping the obd2 injectors then you will need to modify the obd0 clips slightly for them to fit, and also delete the injector resistor box. basically you remove the box, and all the wires that went to it you will solder together. (4 red/black wires, 1 yellow/black wire)
-you will also need to move/extend the coolant temp wires from the back of the block up to the side of the head. the coolant temp sensor on your engine is located on the thermostat housing. feel free to salvage this connector from your gsr harness and wire it up to the stock coolant temp wires. this is what you will see once the stock harness is installed on your c1. as you can tell, there is no place for the wires to go.

-lastly, you will need to make a dent on the lower driverside frame rail to allow for alternator pully clearance.

Good info from D16Sihatch.
Either Brian at Hasport or the guys at Rywire can do the engine harness stuff and make it plug and play simple for you. One thing though, you can keep the OBD2 GSR ecu if you do not want to go to the OBD1 ecu.

you can actually use any bseries shift linkage i never heard of cumstomizing any shift linkage except on my buddys h22 in his eg.....other than that im 100% sure you can use ur gsr one
thats awesome, thanks alot for everything, but i have one more thing. well, its not really a b18c1... tho it has a b18c1 block but a b16a1 head.... with a blow head gasket leaking coolant and oil to the outside of my motor and smokin like hell in vtec.
im looking for about 250 horse to the wheels. i have got a skunk 2 pro series intake for the b16 head and a dc 4-1 exhaust for the b18 block with full 2 inch stainleess exhaust.
