Default Help me pick a muffler for my GSR

I have a 96 GSR w/ a 4-1 header and an intake. I purchased the car this way. The previous owner took off the resonator, and at some point had a fart can on it I suppose. Before he sold it he got a budget cheapie muffler put on. It sounds nasty. It resonates and sounds like a tin can.

I would like to cut this off and replace it with something. I would like a deep mellow sound...not something raspy and droany. Also, I have a newborn that will be in my car sometimes, so nothing obnoxious.

I do not want a catback or axle back or anything...I simply want to cut off my muffler and weld a new one on.

Any suggestions on what would meet my requirements?

I concur on the ES oval. However, I just happen to have an Apexi Dunk muffler only (just cut it off the piping yesterday). Nice and deep, especially with stock piping. PM me if you want it.

apexi n1, or the ws2 would sound good, depending on how loud you want it. n1 for very loud, and ws2 is alot quieter.

x100.. Ive had mine for a year and I can't explain how much i love it. For 100 bucks on HT cant beat it. IMO nothing says stealth more than that muffler, you only hear it when you want to.

I've never liked ES. Sounds way too raspy and buzzy, even with a cat & resonator.

I would recommend a magnaflow muffler, its about $60 for stainless. Also I would recommend applying some dynamat sound dampener on the floor where the muffler is installed. It will help with drone sounds
