CEL code 6 = coolant temperature sensor

This is the two-wire sensor located immediately below the distributor. The symptoms are consistent with this sensor being bad.

Run the engine until it is fully warmed up. Turn the engine OFF, disconnect the 2P connector from the sensor, and use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the 2 terminals of the sensor. If the reading is not in the range of 200-400 Ohms, then replace the sensor.

It probably just means the problem is intermittent. The issue will likely soon return, so troubleshoot and fix as soon as possible.
