Default Can i get help identifying my block.

Well heres the scope. I had bought a supposely single zc with a vtec head.
i installed it in my 88 crx hf and got it to run. later i converted to obd1 w/ p28 ecu and it ran really strong. So 2 yrs come and i had to go smog it. {Cali}so i decided to pull out the engine and put my friends d16a6 btw the zc was throughing white smoke at high rpms.
was told it was valve guides.

well i decided to take the engine apart to figure out wut was in it. to my discovery i found p28 pistons, so i figure well it must be a d16z6 cuz as far as i knew single zc had pm6 pistons. and so i bought the ebay head gasket kit for like 80 bucks for when i put it back together.

then i notice that the oil pan was aluminum and the dipstick location was near timing belt cover not the middle of the block. so i figured it was a d16y8 block rite? not sure wuts going on. i took of the pan and seen that the griddle had like a pg6 stamp on it, isnt that like from a 88-89 integra????

So can any of you guys can confrim any of this that i have a d16y8 block with z6 pistons/rods and z6 head? and if you guys know if the gaskets for a z6 align rite for a y8. and would i be able to just use the z6 torque specs? thanks heres some pics and ebay link to gasket kit.

EDIT: 92-95, not 96-00

thats the one. You basically have a jdm d16z6.

"sohc vtec zc" is what most would call it.

actually, it wouldn't be a 96-00. I thought that guy i quoted said 92-95.

It has the OBD1 intake manifold on it (d16z6 clone) If it were a 96-00 motor it would have a d16y8 looking intake manifold on it. (like the obd2 jdm d15b)

It's a 92-95 sohcvtec zc. my bad, i should have read.

if www.jdmuniverse.com was up and running you will see its a obd2 motor, the intake was prob swapped onto the motor

yea its a p08-3 i have a picture up too u didnt see it?
p08 is off the d16z6. p2j and p23 is off the 96-00 sohc engines.
thtats wut i dont get.
im thinking i got a y8 block with z6 pistons/rods and a z6 head.
which maybe there is a possible chance this block got restamped.
cause i just bought it off an azn guy a friend of a friend.
and supposely engine was legit.

Technically the p08 is off the JDM d15b VTEC motor.. which is identical to the USDM z6 but has a little more agressive cam.

It looks like this motor was piece together IMO.

yeah i was gonna say the same thing. Too many different parts to really identify it as one particular engine.

and yes, you can use the z6 or y8 gasket interchangeably.. but you will get better (higher) compression from a y8 2 layer head gasket..
