Does anyone have a DIY for replacing the front lower ball joint. My threads are striped so I'm trying to replace the lower ball joint but i have no idea how to take out the old one... do i just hammer it out?

 

To get the ball joint loose from the lower control arm you need a ball joint separator or you can use a trick you can view on YouTube. Search for Honda Civic lower ball joint and the video should pop up.

It's not the easiest of jobs for a novice mechanic to remove and replace the lower ball joint on the 92 - 95 Civic. Unless you are willing to buy/rent some tools, you're better off getting a mechanic to do it for you.

If you want to DIY, then yes you will need to get a 5 lb hammer and whack it out of the knuckle. It's a lot of fun! I just did one yesterday.
