Default ? on MSD VTEC Distributor

I just received my MSD ignition kit for B-series VTEC heads and went to spin the shaft as I do with OEM distributors to check for excessive play but the MSD distributor is very different. The shaft has NO horizontal play and does not spin freely like the OEM distributors. It's not hard to turn but I guess I'm used to OEM which turns freely on the edge of spinning.

For those who have this distributor, is this normal?

Apart from verifying that the rotor screw is on tight, is there anything else I should be worried about?

Take your cap off and check it once in a while.
The shaft seals have a tendancy to go and oil leaks into the cap from the cam after a while.
Other than that a small dab of removable loctite on that screw wouldn't hurt.

Loctite - good idea.

The center conductor popped out of my cap and chewed the cap up a bit, not too bad before I caught it.
The general consensus is that they are not worth the hassle, I also had a tachometer issue with mine not wanting to read on the tachometer beyond 6k I believe.

That and put some loctite on all the screws you can get to. Every one I have seen comes apart within a couple hundred miles.

I picked one up at a fair price so are you saying these things are complete GARBAGE or what? My main reason is purely asthetic.
