Default My final B16A dyno run.

I was planning to go B20 or B18 but now the plan dropped. Determine to go for CL7 or FD2 in late 09 so i have to start saving money now. So i brought my car on dyno for the final tuned, but too bad that the tuner has no time to set my cam gear..

Please feel free to throw your comment on my set up. I thought the powerband should start to drop after 8K rpm for using Toda A cam but on my chart it is still raising. Not sure if it is because of the cam gear are setting at 0,0.

Would love to adjust the cam gear but don't know how to do it. If there is a thread showing how to d.i.y, please do let me know.

Anyway, here is the set up:
B16A block w/ CTR piston, CTR injectors
ITR valvetrain
Toda A cam
Toda cam gear (0,0)
CAI intake
70mm Spoon TB
ITR IM
Tri-Y Replica header
Spoon B pipe + N1
Spoon flywheel
Apexi Power FC

Now setting at 176.4 whp. (Made 179whp but the powerband looks better on this setting)

deff a nice b16 motor you got there, you have a good bunch of parts that work well together, you'd want to be back on the dyno to play with the camgears to see if you make or lose power, sweet car tho congrats man!!!!

k i still see some gains you could get by switching to a toda or toda replica header or even a rmf narrow style header im not sure but i think a 70mmtb is a lil too much and why didnt you play with your cam gears and dont do the cam gears till you are back on a dyno to determine if you mad or lost power adjusting the cam gears

anyways its a very nice numbers for b16 and also that a clean *** coupe

Good basic setup and good numbers. I put out similar numbers but with more mods. That's good stuff right there.

Thanks for your advice. And someone told me to change to a bigger cam or smaller header too, should able to squeeze more power.

I want to know how to play the cam gear too. Is there a thread telling you how to d.i.y?

Btw, thats a ferio

dont mess with the cam gears until you are at the dyno and you can see gains or losses your better off leaving it 0,0 until you get back on a dyno again and if you are talking about switching to a bigger camshaft i wouldnt do it on stock valvetrain

Yea I'm going to agree with an above poster, a Toda or like header will probably net better results as compared to your tri-y.

I'd say find another tuner and have them adjust. At anycase you'll need fueltrim and ignition adjustments when changing your cam timing, so your better off doing this on the dyno as you probably know.

Did you check for P2V & V2V clearance's before assembly? If not, you really wont have anyway of knowing what will work without potential piston to valve, or valve to valve contact. This might not be exactly what your looking for,

By the way, nice pic in the lowlevel corridor.

guys, changed my plan again... i will stick with this EK until i know how the new type R looks like. (May be 2010 or 2011? and hopefully it is 4 door too)

anyway, now i decide to go for B20V! To catch up (may be catching up) with my frds Evo 9 and the new STI during the weekend cruising.

If i only change to B20V, using P30 piston, 310cc injectors, ARP head stud kit & rod bolts. And keep the head that i current using. How much expect it will be?

Actually my goal is 220+whp, but i really don't want to rev over 8.5K. Any advice? (Thanks for all the inputs!)

And i have few questions:
1. Should i keep the OEM gasket or using aftermarkets?
2. The RS P73 piston, any work has to be done on the head if using it?
3. Do i need to milled the head to reach 220+whp?
4. What camshaft is best for B20V? And if i want to rev under 8.5K, any good choice?

Nice B16. I would start a new thread for your b20 build.
Also, look at http://www.b20vtec.com/
