quesiton about lower tie bar!
i want to install a lower tie bar onto my gsr, but i have a few questions to be asnwered before i proceed with my plan:
- if i disconnect the lower control arm (rear suspension) myself, will i be able to put it back on the subframe with ease or do i have to go to the shop to do this?
- when i screw on the pivot bolt back onto the subframe, how much torque and will i be able to tighten it enough by hand? (i dun want my control arm to come off while driving or sumthing)
- does a lower tie bar help a lot? or do i have to push my car to its limit to make it useful?
- does brand matter? afterall ,its just a metal bar that holds both the control arm to eliminate flex and its not even a moving part like a cam gear where material matters.
thanks for your help and patience!

The first time I installed a bar I did it on a lift. The second time I did it on my garage floor with the car jacked up.
It takes some muscle to get the lca to go into place. For my garage install, I found that using a floor jack on the bottom of the lca, along with some huge pliers to twist the lca into place worked fine. The one side took like 45minutes, the other 5minutes. Keeping the wheels on helps prevent the whole suspension piece from moving too much.
If you take the car to an exhaust shop, or any old gas station shop I'm sure they could do the install in like 15minutes. If you aren't comfortable yet with working on your car then that's what I would suggest.
As for brands, I run the Benen bar (black). Tanabe, Cusco, J's, Skunk, and Neuspeed are all decent as well.

thanks guys.... i am worried about not being able to put the lca back on, but i talked to the acura dealer's parts dude and he said that if i use a jack under the lca, i should be able to raise the lca a bit to be able to put the pivot bolt back in. as for tightening the bolt, he said that doing it by hand should be enough, but using a torque gun is recommended ( obvious).
does the bar really improve handling? or do i have to push my car to the limit before it makes a difference?

I believe it improves handling. You really can't get enough reinforcement...especially as the car ages and loosens a little.
For the LCA's...keep the tires on. I've done it on a lift and on jackstands. The easiest was on jackstands. One side I had to use the jack, but the other I didn't....both sides required a little tweaking by using some big channel lock pliers and twisting the lca's a little
If you get pissed off at it enough you shouldn't have a problem getting them into place.
